The Well-Structured Sentence
Strong, sensible sentences are the indispensable building blocks of engaging writing. In one of our recent editing workshops, we discussed three rules for smart sentence structure:
| • | A sentence should have only one point. |
| • | Structure a sentence to orient and cue the reader. |
| • | Structure sentences to emphasize what you mean to emphasize. |
